Claire Elise Boucher was born on March 17, 1988. Her stage name is Grimes. She began her career in the early 1990s. is described as stretching into "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop. She has also incorporated influence from electronic music, hip-hop, and rock. A lot of her songs touch upon science fiction themes as well as feminist issues. Five studio albums have been issued by her. Born and raised in Vancouver (later making the move from there to Montreal), Grimes began performing her music during the latter half of 2000, releasing two albums, Geidi Primes and Halfaxa In 2010, she released her first album on Arbutus Records. The album was released in 2012 and Visions will be her third studio effort. Grimes signed with 4AD. Visions contains the singles "Genesis", and "Oblivion" which won them the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. Art Angels, her fourth studio album, came out in the year 2015. A number of publications have rated it the most successful album. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. Grimes is an official judge of Alter Ego, a music contest. She participated in the role-playing game of Cyberpunk 2077 2020 role-playing game.
